I hold a Bachelor’s degree in PK3/Primary Education, with a focus on literacy instruction and assessment, ESE Certified and hold both my ESOL and Reading Endorsements. Additionally, I am trained in Orton -Gillingham and the latest evidence-based reading interventions. I have experience working with a diverse range of learners, including struggling readers, English language learners, and gifted students in grades PreK-5.
I have a track record of successfully helping students with reading disabilities make progress, achieve their goals and gain confidence!
I am thrilled to bring this service to my community. As a Jacksonville native, St. Johns, Florida has been my home for 27+ years. I raised my family here and have worked for St. Johns schools for 13 years. Education is my calling and helping struggling learners is my passion!
Orton-Gillingham is a highly structured approach that breaks reading and spelling down into smaller skills involving letters and sounds, and then building on these skills over time. It was the first approach to use explicit, direct, sequential, systematic, multi-sensory instruction to teach reading, which is not only effective for all students but essential for teaching students with dyslexia.
